Date & Time

Valerie Chepp Sarah Greenman
Description

While the positive effects of high impact learning practices (HIPs) are well documented in higher education, students of color benefit from HIPs at lower rates. This session will discuss the relevant literature on equity and HIPs. After discussing this background participants will break into groups to discuss current HIPs practices at an institutional and individual level and critically evaluate the impact that these practices have on students of color. Finally, each group will draft action plans for individuals to take back to their own institution or to their individual teaching to work to make the structural practice of HIPs antiracist.
