Kanishka Chowdhury is Professor of English and Director of American Culture and Difference at the University of St. Thomas, where he teaches courses in cultural studies, postcolonial theory, and immigrant and transnational cultures. His latest book, Human Rights Discourse in the Post-9/11 Age (Palgrave, Macmillan, 2019) offers a materialist critique of mainstream human rights discourse in the period following 9/11. He is currently working on an article that considers the scholarly conversation around racial capitalism in an attempt to scrutinize the intersections of race and class as they are manifested in ongoing struggles for racial and economic justice.
