Frederica Simmons is a graduate student in the department of Art History at the University of St. Thomas, pursuing a Master’s degree alongside a certificate in Museum Studies. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Minnesota, graduating magna cum laude with a summa cum laude thesis on the topic of BIPOC community-based art collectives, both past and present. This interest in exploring frequently overlooked narratives in art history led her to join the Urban Art Mapping team in 2020. Frederica is also a student researcher working with Save the Boards to Memorialize the Movement, a Black-women led organization in Minneapolis.
