Description

This workshop will combine history & praxis. In this interactive virtual workshop, participants will, first, receive a definition of anti-Blackness, as well as a brief historical overview of anti-Blackness in the U.S. Special attention will be paid to the role of anti-Blackness in two of the most disturbing contemporary challenges facing Black people in the U.S.; police brutality and COVID-19.  Next, with the understanding that interrogating the connection between our personal & professional lives is critical, attendees will be guided through an interactive experience focused upon reflecting upon the role of anti-Blackness in their personal lives.  Finally, attendees will be led through an exploration of better practices on how best to work alongside the systemic challenges of anti-Blackness in higher education through vignettes.
