Shari L. Johnson is both a social worker & an anthropologist by educational training. After a 10-year career as a professional social worker & a private practice working solely with older adults, Shari began her unexpected teaching career. For several decades now, she has created & taught a wide variety of social work courses & professional development workshops primarily in aging, DE&I, Queer studies, race & social justice, as well as cultural anthropology, at several institutions across Michigan & Massachusetts. In July of 2020, Shari felt led to relocate to the current "race epicenter". She has a dual appointment as a Clinical faculty member in the School of Social Work and the Inaugural coordinator for DE&I efforts & initiatives for the newly formed Morrison Family College of Health.
